Amsterdam is such a charming city, with its quaint canals, historical architecture and baroque style buildings. By day it’s quiet, even with its thousands of tourists, wandering in and out of museums, shopping on Pieter Cornelisz Hoofstraat street and sitting inside cafes for a coffee and a smoke. By night it’s vibrant and alive with people desperate to experience the cities delights . Tourists gather inside cafes and restaurants, in flickering candle light, smoke dancing above their heads, and a glass of red wine in every hand. The red light district dazzles, as women in stockings pose, inviting you in with their cheeky smiles. By midnight, you’ll walk the streets in a dizzy haze, eating waffles to curb your appetite, the bright lights fading into the distance, as you stumble into the darkness. Noise turns into silence, with the odd swish of water from the canals, soothing your headache.
I love Amsterdam.
